Life Legacy

On April 15, 1926, Arnold was born to Leonor and Manuel Soto in Tucson, Arizona.  He was raised in Berkeley and Oakland.  Arnold quit school to join the Army (World War II) where he was injured in Manila, Philippines and awarded the Bronze Star.  He was a courageous man who, following his service, had to re-learn how to walk, talk, read and write like a newborn.  He succeeded and went to Williams Business College.  Soon after, he got a job for Safeway in the accounting department where he worked for thirty-two years.  In 1960, Arnold moved to San Lorenzo with his beloved, devoted wife, Virginia.  They were married for almost sixty years.  He lived for his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-granddaughter.

Arnold is survived by his children, Michael (Kim) Soto and Roxanne (Gary) Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Michele (Juan) Torres, Michael Soto II, Kristen (Andrew) Mosier, Nicole (Michael) Casa, Heather (Edwardo) Sanchez, Breanna Fitzgerald and Kimberly Fitzgerald; great-grandchildren, Brena & Isabel Torres, Michael Soto III, Andy & Lilly Mosier, Caitlin Barley, Alana & Devin Casa, Simone & Lola Sanchez and Ethan Schilling; great great-granddaughter, Madison Soto, all of whom he loved so very much.  Arnold was a coach for the Del Ray Elementary School basketball team where they won their first trophy.  He also umpired and helped work at San Lorenzo Little League where he managed the Duggans Babe Ruth team.  Arnold was an avid Raiders, Athletics, and Warriors fan.  Preceded in death by his daughter, Michele Arnel; his mother and father, Leonor and Manuel T. Soto; brothers, Joseph, Arthur, Herbert, William, and Manuel.  He leaves his siblings, Eleanor (Aldo) Cappa, Raymond (Donna) Soto and sister in law, Florence Soto, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, loving extended family and friends.
