John Madden passed away peacefully on February 3rd, at his home in Hayward, CA.

Born July 2nd, 1946 in New Mexico, John first moved to Hayward with his parents John and Amelia in 1956. He is survived by his sister, Lena Lucero and his brother Pat Madden. He attended Glassbrook, Tyrell, Tennyson High School (‘64), and Cal State Hayward where he received his degree in business. As a true Hayward native, John was even employed at the ever famous Hunt’s Cannery. Ultimately, John worked for the US Post Office in Fremont for 32 years and proudly retired in 2001. He always enjoyed watching all types of sports, whether it was high school, college, or pro ball. John was an avid ceramist and threw pottery for many years. John was preceded in death by his parents and he will be dearly missed by his brother Patrick Madden, sister Lena Lucero, brother-in-law Joe Lucero, and his nieces Kimberly and Shannon. At his request, no services will be held. There will be a celebration of John’s life at a later date.
