Maria Nieves Saldana was born on August 10, 1930 in Mexico to Maria Robles and Estanislado Padilla. She passed away on February 6, 2018 in Castro Valley at the age of 88.

Maria, also known as “Melle” to those who knew her was one of 10 children. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Salvador, and six children: Maria Dolores, Maria Aurora, Dora Emilia, Jesus, Jose, and Salvador. She is also the beloved grandmother of 19 and great-grandmother of five.

During her life, what brought Melle the most joy was her family, including her dogs, Chloe and Kiara. She was also an avid gardener.

In celebration of Melle’s life there will be a visitation on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Grissom’s Chapel & Mortuary from 2 – 8 pm, and a chapel service starting at 6:30.
