On Saturday May 12, 2018, James H Dell, passed away at the age of 62. He was a proud son, beloved husband and devoted father of two. He was born on July 4, 1955. Jim was a successful business owner and nurseryman for the past forty years. In 1983, he married Terri Simmons and they lived faithfully together for the past 34 years. In 1987, they welcomed a baby boy, Christopher H, and in 1990, a lovely girl, Stephanie Marie.
His passion was his business, philanthropic work and remaining loyal to his family and friends. Jim spent a lifetime serving the Masonic family. Currently, he was serving as a deputy member of DeMolay International, the First Vice President of the Northern California DeMolay Foundation, a member of the Semper Fidelis chapter Order of Eastern Star, the Oakland Scottish Rite, and a member of Pleasanton Masonic Lodge. He also had the pleasure of serving the youth organizations, DeMolay and the International order of Rainbow for Girls as an advisor. Through these organizations he earned many high honors including a Legion of Honor from DeMolay and a Grand Cross of Color from Rainbow.
He is survived by his wife Terri, Son Christopher, Daughter Stephanie, Brother Edward Dell of Colorado, Father Frank Dell and his wife Cathy Dell along with several Brothers and Sisters in law. He was a great supporter and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Barbara Garcia. His generosity through the years, to all who knew him, was a testament of his solid character and giving heart.
Services will be held at the Castro Valley Masonic Center on Sunday June 3, at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the DeMolay Foundation Scholarship Fund or the American Heart Association.
